About program

Imagining yourself on top of majestic mountains and looking for an opportunity to fulfill that dream? Or maybe you’re an experienced mountaineer seeking a new adventure? Whatever your level of experience, we’re here to help make it happen.

No prior alpine climbing experience is required—our professional guides will handle all the technical aspects of your climb. All you need to do is enjoy the stunning views and the thrill of the journey.

Routes for Everyone

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced climber, we’ll tailor the route to match your skills and fitness level. We can take you on an easy hike to a nearby peak or lead you on a more challenging ascent to a summit above 4,000 meters.

Where?

The Small Almaty Gorge, located just outside Almaty city, is a treasure trove of alpine routes. These range from beginner-friendly paths with gentle walks and short scrambling sections to demanding climbs with extended rocky or icy terrain.

Whether you’re looking for a relaxed introduction to alpine climbing or a more thrilling challenge, we’ll guide you to the perfect route.

When?

The alpine climbing season in Almaty is open year-round, except in April and October when heavy snowfalls make conditions very challenging or even unsafe.

If it’s your first time, summer is the best season for an alpine adventure. The warm weather makes the journey more comfortable, requiring less technical gear and fewer layers of clothing.

For experienced climbers equipped with insulated mountaineering boots and a cozy down jacket, winter provides an exciting and rewarding alpine experience.

Program Overview

Day 1: Approach and Acclimatization

We’ll meet in Almaty and head to the mountains together. Depending on the route, we’ll spend the night either in tents or in the cozy dormitory of the Tuyuk-Su alpine camp.

Once we arrive at camp, we’ll take a short hike to higher ground to help you acclimatize and prepare for the next day’s climb.

Day 2: Climbing Day

We’ll start early in the morning (around 4:00–5:00 am, depending on the season and our objective). From there, we’ll embark on an unforgettable alpine climb to one of the summits in the Small Almaty Gorge.

Book your adventure with Silk Road Guiding today to experience the thrill of conquering a mountain and immerse yourself in the breathtaking beauty of the Almaty mountains.
