The route forms a scenic loop through Big and Small Almaty Gorges, crossing glaciers and passes with sweeping views over Central Asia’s vast alpine terrain.
Itinerary
Day 1–Talgar Pass to Alpine Rose Glade
Cable car ascent to Talgar Pass (3,200 m), lunch in a yurt, and descent into Left Talgar Gorge. Camp in Alpine Rose Glade by the shore of Left Talgar river.
Day 2–Trek to Tourists Glacier
Hike deeper into the Talgar Valley, past glades and streams. Camp at the base of Tourists Glacier (~3,200 m).
Day 3–Cross Tourists Pass (3,980 m)
Early ascent over a glaciated saddle with incredible views. Descend into the remote Kyzyl-Sai Valley and camp near Almaty Alagir Pass.
Day 4–Almaty Alagir Pass to Prokhodnoye Gorge
Hike up to Almaty Alagir pass and descend through rugged alpine terrain to a peaceful meadow camp at Terra Glade.
Day 5–Waterfalls & Hot Springs
Visit “Girl’s Tears” waterfall, hike out via birch forests to Alma-Arasan hot springs (optional spa entry), and return to Almaty.
