Who we are

Silk Road Guiding is a company based in Almaty, Kazakhstan. We provide private, guided outdoor experiences in Central Asia, including skiing, climbing, trekking, MTB tours, and SUV tours. Whatever adventure you have in mind, we can provide it for you. As outdoor enthusiasts ourselves, we are passionate about sharing the exciting world of mountains and the outdoors with as many people as possible.

We help adventure seekers turn their ideas into achievable goals and plans. On our website, you'll find some of our favorite programs and tours, but most of our work involves private instruction and guiding, so don't hesitate to contact us if you want us to organize something special for you.

When it comes to outdoor activities, people around you are just as important as the activity itself. They create the atmosphere and set the mood. So here we are‍—‍people behind the idea of Silk Road Guiding.

Max

Max grew up in Almaty, Kazakhstan, where his passion for the outdoors began at a young age. He spent much of his childhood hiking, camping, and fishing in the picturesque Jetysu region. A skilled freeride skier and snowboarder with over 10 years of experience, Max enjoys the close proximity of Almaty to backcountry skiing, rock climbing, and alpine peaks year-round.

Max is an international KMGA and IFMGA guide aspirant, with more than 500 days of guiding experience. He particularly enjoys coaching and teaching, taking great satisfaction in leading guests to some of the most incredible destinations. When he's not skiing, Max can be found rock climbing, mountain biking, or discovering hidden gems throughout his stunning homeland.

Katya

Katya has been climbing for over eight years. During this time, she has progressed from a complete novice to an experienced climber, earned certification as a mountaineering instructor, and worked as an instructor and mountain guide for over two hundred days. She has completed more than fifty successful mountain climbs with students and clients.

Starting as a rock climber, Katya now confidently climbs rocks, ice, and mountains. She can teach you the basics of climbing techniques, offer useful tips and tricks, and help you become a more independent climber. Or, she can simply guide you safely through the mountains.
